​​54% of Ukrainians support Ukraine's membership in NATO

The vast majority of Ukrainians support Ukraine's membership in the EU and NATO.

iDemocracy informs so with reference to a new all-Ukrainian public poll ,conducted by the sociological group "Rating" commissioned by the Center for Analysis and Sociological Research (CISR) of the International Republican Institute (IRI) across Ukraine, except the occupied territories of Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions. from 6 to 15 November 2021, through personal interviews at the place of residence of respondents. The survey was funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

"Ukraine's accession to the community of developed democracies will help strengthen the country's economic capabilities and strengthen protection against external threats. Even in the face of Russian military aggression, Ukrainians support NATO and EU membership",
– said MRI’s regional director for the Eurasian region Stephen Knicks.

According to the survey, 54% of Ukrainians support Ukraine's membership to NATO. As for Ukraine's membership to any International Economic Union, 58% of Ukrainians would choose the EU and only 21% - the Eurasian Customs Union with Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

Previously iDemocracy political scientist Volodymyr Fesenko wrote that although it is impossible to define a date for granting the MAP to Ukraine, however action in this direction is inevitable.
