Today, human trafficking and slavery are one of the most shameful phenomena in the modern world, as they violate human rights, degrade human honor and dignity.
On December 16,2021 representatives of iDemocracy - founder and CEO of iDemocracy Sergii Vlashchenko and Director of NGO iDemocracy for Human Rights Initiative Mykola Kuleba took part in an online event What About the Buyers? Fighting Human Trafficking by Fighting Demand in order to exchange the international experience.
iDemocracy informs with reference to the organizer's website the event was organized by a team of experts from Anti Trafficking International, whose work is aimed at combating human trafficking. Valiant Richie the OSCE Special Representative and Coordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, also took part in the event.
According to ATI experts, every 30 seconds a child or teenager is sold for slavery. Although a child/teenager is at home, he/she could already be tracked by traffickers who may come into contact on the way to or after school.
It should be noted that representatives of iDemocracy held a number of events dedicated to the topic of combating human trafficking in order to update it and to share international experiences. Among them: the round table "Combating trafficking in human beings. International Experience and Current Trends ”, organized by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement and “Trafficking in Human Beings as a Gross Violation of Human Rights” with the participation of A21 Ukraine within the Summit for Democracy.
