Ukraine is among participants of the international summit for democracy

The administration of the US president Joseph Biden has invited Ukraine to take a part in the Summit for democracy that will be held online on 9-10 December 2021.

iDemocracy informs so with the reference to the US Department of State. It is expected that 111 countries will participate in the event.

The summit for democracy is a platform aimed to bring together leaders of governments, civil society, and the private sector in order in order to promote an affirmative agenda for democratic renewal with a view to jointly overcome the biggest threats faced by democracies all over the world.

Events within the summit will be related to three main topics, namely defending against authoritarianism, addressing and fighting corruption as well as promoting respect for human rights.

It is the reason why iDemocracy plans to join the summit for democracy, especially the discussion of ways on how to counter human trafficking which is a severe violation of fundamental rights and freedoms. We believe that only practical cooperation of governments, civil society, and international partners will help to elaborate and introduce effective mechanisms to fight such a disgraceful phenomenon as human trafficking.

Let us recall that iDemocracy has previously written that Ukraine improved its positions in the international rating of democracy.
